Inaugurated in 2003, Dance Conversations @ The Flea (DCF) was a free performance and discussion series at The Flea Theater, featuring works in progress by emerging and mid-career choreographers, followed by an open discussion between the artists and the audience, moderated by special guests. DCF was created so that artists working in the field of dance could have their work seen in a professional and informal setting by other established and emerging choreographers as well as fellow dancers and enthusiastic audience members. DCF encouraged the development of new work and ideas and promoted provocative and intimate dialogue between artists and audiences. The Flea Theater first invited Nina Winthrop to curate Dance Conversations @ The Flea for the 2005-6 season. She went on to curate the series through 2013.
